Amaravati: A high-level team from Andhra Pradesh led by Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister P Narayana on Wednesday visited Qatar's capital Doha to study Doha Sports City.

The aim of the visit was to examine the success of the model for replication in AP mainly as part of Amaravati 2.0 development.

Narayana and the visiting delegation inspected Khalifa International Stadium and Aspirator Sports Hospital, Aspire Academy in Sports City. Doha had hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Asian Games were organised successfully in 2006 in Sports City spread over a huge area of 250 hectares. The team was inspired by the facilities available at Aspetar Sports Hospital, the first sports medicine hospital in Asia.

Narayana, accompanied by Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development S. Suresh Kumar, discussed the necessary plans for the construction of International Sports City at Amaravati with the Doha officials.

Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation MD Srinivas was also present.
